A beer mat (also spelt beermat) is a type of drinks coaster, usually made from cardboard and are used to rest beverages on, primarily used in pubs and bars. They have several uses, including protecting the surface of the table or bar and absorbing condensation and spills from the glass. Beer mats are usually branded with trademarks or alcohol advertising and some are collectables, and the practise of collecting beer mats is known as Tegestology.
