A widget is a device used in beer containers, such as a can, which manage the characteristics of a beers head. A widget is added to the can along with liquid nitrogen which dissolves in the beer, when the can is opened the pressure drops causing the pressurised gas and beer inside the widget to jet out from the hole. This results in a thicker, creamier head for draught beers and stouts such as Guinness, whom originally patented the device.
