Wine Glasses

Glossary of Terms

A wine glass is a stemmed piece of glassware with a wide bowl, primarily used for serving wine with room for swirling. Wine glasses come in two main styles; white wine glasses and red wine glasses. White wine glasses (usually holding 6oz to 12oz) may also be used for rose wine and they feature a narrower bowl as swirling isn't as important and this helps keep the wine chilled. A red wine glass (usually holding 10oz to 14oz) has a larger, wider bowl which allows for swirling, while the wider mouth is designed to enhance the bouquet and release the aroma of the wine.
