"I love this product... think it is worth every penny and is great value in comparison to fixed position hot tubs. It is actually a lot bigger than it appears in the pictures as well.
I had a house party and the jacuzzi was an important part of it and we managed to fit a lot more than 6 people into it!!"
Colin Reilly - London, 19th July '11
"I bought this Lay Z Spa for my wife and she is absolutely delighted with it as is my 5 yr old granddaughter! We upgraded from the 4 person spa
and for the pleasure it gives we feel that we should have upgraded sooner :) maybe in the future someone can design a model where there is a seat that can be inflated."
Roy Delaney - Cheshire, 15th June '11
"I bought it in Feb, and was boxed until May. There's quite a few things that the instructions & websites don't tell you. If you're thinking of buying, continue.
The instructions and DVD are poor. The instructions seem to assume you've done this before. Fear not, it says that the DVD should be used in conjunction. The DVD is of little use too.
The manual uses terms without explanation, and the diagrams don't do much to fill the blanks. For example,
- What's an SID valve (think I've sorted that, but not sure what it stands for)?
- When inflating, what does the removable nozzle on the inflation pipe do, and when should one use it? (think you need it for the base and lid)
- When inflating, how do you know when it's done? Can you over-inflate? (I don't think so, but still don't know when it's done)
- When filling, what is the fill line they mention? (there are many lines that look like zones, but no actual fill line - I filled to the middle of them)
- Should you ever have to top up the air? (I'm guessing so, since mine looks to have gone down)
Some people have sorted this by themselves, and well done to them. I was paranoid that I'd wake up to a flooded garden, and so played it safe.
Other things that you should know (that would be nice to know beforehand),
- On the XL, the pump is at the very end, so take into consideration when mapping out the dimensions
- The chemical starter pack is required. However, if you bought the chemicals separately, you'd save £5
- You need access to all around the spa to attach the cover
Once it's all working it is fantastic! However,
- On mine the zipped cover is very poorly designed and tight. The zip broke on the second use
- The cover ripped within a month when trying to put it back on.
I didn't treat it badly at all, and I think the new design solves these problems.
Overall, brilliant, except for instructions and poor cover."

Matthew Chittock - Westcliff on Sea, 3rd May '11
"Hi all, just took delivery of my new Lay Z Spa hot tub. Thanks to everyone at drinkstuff for their quick and professional service, was a bit unsure at first when you said it would be week beginning 25/04/11 but was really impressed when goods arrived on 19/04/11. Had hours of fun in it already and have been spreading the word to family and friends about your company. Thanks again and look forward to dealing with you again in future."

Lynda-Jo Mikulla - Worcester, 27th April '11

"Great product, quick delivery, although not unpacked or checked yet. Very competitive pricing!"
Celyn Jones - Felixstowe, Suffolk, 3rd April '11
"Excellent product having lots of fun in it.
The only one downside is noisy pump, we are going to soundproof it.
We are buying a spa for our brother at this actual moment."
Lynda-Jo Mikulla - Worcester, 29th March '11
"This spa is wonderful, should have got one years ago.
Lovely warm water always ready to use. Absolutely wicked.
Stephen Bamford - Wigan, 28th March '11
"Bought the large oval Lay Z Spa Hot Tub as a cheaper option to a rigid Hot Tub & was pleasantly surprised by the size & quality of it! The kids love it & it does my back the world of good! Having a carpenter as a husband helps as he has cladded the outside and surrounding area with tongue and groove & set in funky blue lights surrounding it! Bliss!"
Sarah Williams - Weymouth, 1st February '11
Elaine MacDonald - Glasgow, 7th August '10
"This spa is excellent, wanted a hot tub for ages but did not want to spend a fortune it's perfect!!! Just be warned it does take ages to heat but well worth it!!! The kids have fun and so do we."
Jo - Bristol, 10th May '10
"I bought the large Spa in time for summer, setup took around 1 hour then 2 hours to fill it. Once heated up and ready it's brilliant. Great to chill out in and very comfortable.
The only downside as I have seen in a few reviews is the ZIP! It is terrible it pops off and breaks, which is very annoying as now it's not really covered! Why don't they do a strap or velcro? Much easier and less problems.
I think the only remedy is a new spa to sort the Zip issue as it's well and truly broken. Pretty frustrating but then again its not a £2000 spa!"
Guy Harrington - Windsor, 29th April '10
Drinkstuff says: Many thanks for your review Guy, we're sorry that you've had an issue with your Spa. The outer part of the Lay Z Spa is covered under a 6 month warranty as described on our Lay Z Spa Help & Support
page, so you are welcome to contact the manufacturer, Bestway, to seek further advice.
"Now the spa is up and running it is fantastic. This is the second one I have had and the new version looks much better than the old blue one. My only problem has been the zip. You assemble and fill the spa before zipping on the lid, the zip then turned out to be broken. To get a replacement you then need to empty the spa and chemicals, cut out sections from the top and bottom of the liner, take photos of them and email them to get a replacement which in my opinion should have been tested before delivery. The lady on the phone was very helpful but it was a hassle and waste of chemicals and water etc and meant we could not use it on the date planned. I see this is a common problem on other reviews. To help others, test the zip before filling (apparently they are all individually made and unique). Also the lady on the phone said they only need a tiny bit of air in the lid - it is only to drain off rain water. If you inflate this too much it puts too much pressure on the zip. Aside from this it is a brilliant product and gets almost daily use and I have already recommended it to friends. And once sorted, the zip is much better than the previous fasteners as there are no gaps for spiders or bugs to get in."
Lisa - East Sussex, 29th April '10
Drinkstuff says: Sorry that you have had these problems with your spa Lisa. Like you say in your review, it is recommended that products are tested before proper use, so if there are any issues they can be sorted out.
"We bought this just to put up and down as we pleased but have ended up keeping it up all the time because we love it. It's a great addition to any BBQ or party, it's fairly easy to put up and we are just working out the maintaining bit. The only problem that we have had is the zip for the cover. Very difficult to get the zip around the corners and now it's ended up busting. Not too bothered though it's easier just to pull on and off and will probably strap it down when it's windy.
It's bigger than what we thought it was going to be so overall very pleased.
Superb service from Drinkstuff, thanks."
Claire - Barnsley, 24th April '10
"Great product and instructions, we have built a spa unit on our deck to house the spa which makes it usable day or night. The only issue we have is with the cover, the zip is difficult to use and takes a while to put on when finished using. We would suggest a couple of tags/loops sewn into the cover to aid hanging up up. The chemical kit
should have a measuring spoon with it, as conversion of miligrams or grams to ounces is difficult as all conversions in powders or granules can be different. We have found that a teaspoon is approx 4 grams. Thanks again for a great product."
David Kimpton - Frome, Somerset, 21st August '09
Not that impressed
"Having had the 4 person spa for a couple of years, thought it would be nice to get XL. I just wish mine looked as it does in the photo. The sides on the top bladder have expanded to almost twice the size so that it has stretched the canvass skin, as a consequence the straps have either snapped or ripped away. Likewise with the outside bladder of the cover even with the minimum of pressure is out of shape. In my opinion, the thickness of the skin is too thin for the task. Would I buy another XL? No way. Either the 4 person or a rigid for me next time"
Peter Groves - Waterlooville, 12th August '09
Drinkstuff says: Thank you for your comments Peter. We're sorry that you've had trouble with your XL Liner. This is very unusual. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do since you have owned your spa for over a year. All we can suggest is that you could purchase a replacement liner
for the Lay Z Spa Deluxe. Since you purchased your Lay Z Spa XL Deluxe, a new version has been released in the form of the Lay Z Spa Premium XL which is an improved model.
"We bought the Lay-Z-Spa XL Series 3 last week and put it up to have a play this weekend with friends, I don't think we have had so much fun, didn't even get out of it until 2am on Saturday night!
Being a blow up spa is so much more comfortable than one of the rigid plastic base spas (and half the price) and it is pretty deep so you can get your shoulders under the water when the atmosphere temp gets cold.
The spa is pretty simple to construct and use, takes sometime to fill (about 2.5 hours) and to heat (about 24 hours), but once done it keeps it temp very well and was very easy to use.
Bubbles are lovely but very noisy, although it has to be said it's just as nice without them on, just floating around in the hot water with friends and a drink or two.
You definitely need some space for it though measuring 2m x 3m it's not a small thing, the bonus to this is you can probably get 8 people in it rather than just the 6 advertised, which means even more fun with more friends!
Seems pretty easy to keep clean with chemicals
, you will need these if you are intending to heavily use it as it gets a bit grimy, but we used it for a long weekend it was fine without them, will need cleaning now though.
All in all money very well spent and good times all round, looking forward to a few more weekends in it this summer.
Wicked purchase for you and all your friends."
Rachael Nelson - Leicester, 9th August '09
Drinkstuff says: Thank you for your comments and photo Rachael. We are pleased that you are enjoying your Lay Z Spa XL. To show our appreciation for your efforts, we have added 15 drinkstuff credits to your account equivalent to £15 off your next order.
"I cannot recommend this enough, the whole family love it as do the neighbours and friends. Getting it to ourselves is proving difficult. Takes a long time to heat up, but once it has, it is great."
Michael - Northern Ireland, 24th June '09
"Jacuzzi & Champagne...my kind of bubbles!!!"
Paul Brindley - Tamworth, Staffs, 8th June '09
"Great fun for all the family. We and all our friends love it too. I would like to know if you have to put the tables on the side or if can they be left off?"
Peter Offland - Wirral, 5th June '09
Drinkstuff says: Thank you for your comments and question Peter. The tables are supplied with the Lay Z Spa Premium XL but it is optional as to whether you put them up or not. They do not affect the spa.
"I purchased last June and think the product is excellent except for one point; the heater has proved to be unreliable. We are now on our third. I am about to set the spa up ready for this summer and I have no confidence in whether we will have heat. Putting that to one side, Drinkstuff have been great and have done everything they can to help. I have my fingers crossed!"
Ken Muir - Ely Cambs, 8th May '09
"Arrived very quickly and in excellent condition. Easy to assemble, but takes a long time to fill and heat - 30 hours my children had to wait to get in. Overall - great product that entertains children and adults alike for hours - and far better value for money than going away for a short break with the kids. We haven't emptied it yet to store it away, so I cannot comment on the condition of a layzspa that's been stored away."
Melanie Reynolds - Staffordshire, UK, 14th April '09
"We purchased this for our Christmas and New Year parties. Setting up is easy, just takes a long time to fill with water. Heating took about 24 hours even in the very cold conditions, so not too bad. We put a gazebo around this and created a tropical world in the cold. Great fun for just a fraction more than what we were quoted for hiring one of these for a week."
Steve - Bedworth, 29th December '08
"brilliant, but would just remind people to put tables on before filling lol as we forgot and these are inportant we had to empty ours after filling, also we filled with hot water from the tap makes it sooo much quicker!!"
jennifer - belton, leicestershire, 3rd October '08
"i purchased one of these a couple of weeks ago, at first everything fine then top ring started deflating after a couple of weeks, i contacted drinstuff who passed my information and problem to bestway who were totally brilliant it took 48 hours from the moment i spoke to them to recieving a replacement, bestway customer services where spot on now relaxing again and enjoying a beer in my tub well done drinkstuff and bestway...."
CHRIS - LINCOLN, 22nd August '08
"The hot tub is amazing, however, I do feel rather misled by the advert on your web site. It shows pictures of the hot tub in various ways....empty...with water in...with people in ...the top....the cover on and off...and a hot tub starter pack......I look it that this starter pack would come with the product as the top and cover and everything else does....as it shows everything else that does....because of this I didnt order a starter pack so I could not use it for the party I had planned, therefore, I feel that this is misleading...there is a list further down of a whole range of componets, but when I says filter and other things I just took it that they would come and they don't..."
debbi perkins - nottingaham, 3rd August '08
Drinkstuff says: Thank you for your order and review Debbi. We do feel we have described the contents of the Spa as best as possible, in the description it clearly states what comes with the Deluxe Spa and the Chemical Pack is not mentioned. The image of the pack is completely separate to the Spa itself and has to be ordered separately to the Spa too. We're sorry that you feel misled but we don't think complete liability can be attributed to us.
"I've only had the spa for a couple of weeks but so far I love it! Easy to set up, requires some maintenance in the form of chemicals and filters but as I bought the chemical starter pack and some spare filters too it has not been a problem. all in all good value and great fun. A+"

"We are delighted with our spa, easy to set up, fast delivery. An excellent product!
Adam Fiddimore - East Sussex, 28th June '08
"you will not be disappointed if you buy one of these The wife and 2 kids have been in this tub every day since we bought it. It is the best way to spend 385. Took 10min to unpack and inflate, then the water took only 2 hours. It was 18deg, then exactly 22hrs later the 1deg per hour heater got it to the 40deg The construction is stronger than your average blow up pool; the outer skin is more like the fabric used on inflatable toys towed behind speed boats. Just make sure you buy the chemicals because at this temperature it doesnnt take long for the dirt to build up. Easy to test and tweak the chemical balance, just make sure you do it everyday and hose out the filter cartridge. Good company to deal with quick delivery no hassle. Buy one now"
