"Originally, martini glasses were not that large, certainly not as large as they appear today (see, for example, The Thin Man). These martini glasses are therefore a welcome sight, providing a touch of elegance to a cocktail that has often suffered much abuse (see www.drinkingsociety.org). Their size allows the drink to stay cold over its period of being consumed (whereas larger glasses allow the drink to become luke warm). Plus you can fit more in your freezer (yes, martini glasses should be frozen)."
