How to Make a Black Velvet Cocktail
The Black Velvet is a beer cocktail traditionally made using Guinness (or other Stout) along with Champagne (or Prosecco, or sparkling wine). First created in London in 1861 to mourn the death of Prince Albert, the Black Velvet cocktail was supposed to symbolise the black cloth armbands worn by mourners. Originated by the bartender of Brook’s Club, this beer cocktail is now rarely associated with Queen Victoria’s prince consort.
