Negroni Week – The Americano

First created in the 1860’s by Gaspare Campari, this cocktail was originally called the ‘Milano-Torino’. During the prohibition era is when it got it’s current name as the expat Americans loved it! Made up of the classic combination of Campari and Sweet Vermouth, unlike the Negroni it has soda water rather than the gin. Bitter and fizzy the Americano is a long refreshing drink and is perfect for any Campari lover. Stir, don’t shake and serve over ice for the perfect Gatsby-inspired cocktail.

Ingredients

  • Campari
  • Sweet Vermouth
  • Soda Water

Directions

  1. Measure out 40ml of the Campari and the Sweet Vermouth pour into an ice-filled glass
  2. Top up with soda water
  3. Lightly stir to combine so as to not lose the fizz
  4. Garnish with a slice of orange
