Glossary of Terms

To stir, or stirring, is a method of mixing mixed drinks such as cocktails. It is most commonly used for stirred cocktail such as the martini which contains pure spirits. The process involves placing the ingredients with ice in a mixer glass, stirring with a tall mixing spoon to combine the ingredients while gently cooling with ice cubes, before straining into a glass.
