Tequila

Glossary of Terms

Tequila is a spirit made by fermenting and distilling blue agave plants, which grows wild in Mexico. It takes its name from the Mexican town of Tequila where the agave plant is primarily harvested. Single distillation produces gold tequila, while double distillation produces silver tequila. Tequila usually has a 38-40% ABV and can be drunk as a shot, either with or without sugar and lime, or in a cocktail, such as the margarita.
