Toddy

Glossary of Terms

A toddy is a type of cocktail that contains a spirit, sweetener and water. A toddy may be served hot or cold, but the Hot Toddy is a more popular version. A Hot Toddy was originally created to relieve the symptoms of cold and flu, but is now more commonly served as a bedtime drink or warming beverage on cold days. A Hot Toddy contains whiskey, while other toddies are made with various ingredients and include the Hot Gin Toddy with gin, the Grand Rum Toddy with sweet rum and orange liqueur, and the Hot Apple Toddy with hot cider and whiskey.
