A thimble measure is a container which is commonly made from stainless steel and is filled to the brim to give a single measure of a liquid such as a spirit, liqueur or wine. Thimble measures in UK bars have to carry the CE mark when used for measuring spirits or wine. Spirits and liqueurs are measured when serving shots or making mixed drinks, while wine is measured when serving by the glass.
