Scotch
Glossary of Terms
Scotch is a type of malt whisky, produced in Scotland from malted barley. It differs from Irish whiskey as the malted barley is dried over peat fires for a smokey flavour before being mashed, fermented and distilled. Scotch whisky comes in 5 main varieties, including single malt Scotch whisky, single grain Scotch whisky, blended malt Scotch whisky, blended grain Scotch whisky and blended Scotch whisky. Scotch is most commonly served in a tumbler, on the rocks.
