The UK’s most googled cocktails during lockdown

Cocktail making at home has become very popular during the Covid-19 lockdown. With bars and restaurants being closed for many months during this pandemic, it left home users wanting to create their own bars at home and wanting to create their own cocktails.

And with the weather on the turn, we are going to take a look at a few of the most searched for cocktails during the UK lockdown!

1. Pimm’s

Ah, Pimms! Of course, the most searched for cocktail is the English classic Pimm’s! Pimm’s is simply made up of Pimm’s No.1, lemonade, mint and generous lashings of summer fruits. The classic garnishes used in a Pimms is simply strawberries, cucumber and oranges, but in all honesty any summer fruit will taste perfect in a Pimms! We like to shake things up with some blueberries or raspberries!

The perfect summers day drink, Pimms is also very simple to create so a perfect one for at home creators, especially those that haven't made cocktails before.

A great way to serve batches of Pimms is with a drink dispenser or jug for then guests to help themselves and add extra garnishes afterwards. There is no particular glass that Pimm’s should be served in, it’s all down the personal preference.

2. Tequila Sunrise

The second most searched for cocktail recipe is the Tequila sunrise. A classic summer holiday cocktail, the Tequila Sunrise is instantly recognisable by its vibrant colour!

Made up of grenadine, Tequila, triple sec and orange juice a Tequila Sunrise is usually garnished with a slice of orange or a maraschino cherry. This refreshing, fruity cocktail is one of the most popular tequila drinks.

To create that fabulous gradient, once you've added in your tequila, orange juice and triple sec, slowly pour the grenadine down the side of the glass. It will gradually sink creating that sunrise effect.

The perfect glass to use for when making this particular cocktail is the classic curved hurricane glass.

3. Woo Woo

Next, we have the Woo Woo. No not the noise, the cocktail! This fruity classic is another super simple cocktail, easily made at home! The Woo Woo is made up of Vodka, Peach Snaps, cranberry juice, a dash of lime juice and a wedge of lime to garnish.

Another super easy cocktail to mix up and can be served any way you like it. You'd normally serve this cocktail in a hiball glass for a classic look, but personally, I prefer a martini glass for that totally fabulous look!

4. Screwdriver

Sometimes what makes a cocktail isn't 10 different ingredients and an overcomplicated garnish. Sometimes simplicity is what makes a drink. And the Screwdriver, a simple two-ingredient cocktail, is just that!

Super refreshing no matter the time, place or venue the Screwdriver is the perfect drink whether its brunch or a night out with friends.

The only two ingredients are Vodka and orange juice that's it! You can add plenty of ice if you want to, and maybe some orange slices for garnish if you fancy it!

Simply serve in a short glass, we prefer a unique old fashioned glass.

5. French Martini

At number five, we have the French Martini.

A tasty cocktail which consists of Vodka, Chambord and pineapple juice.

This cocktail takes a bit more time and effort to make than the others but is worth it.

You will need a cocktail shaker to make this cocktail to assure that the drink has the iconic frothy top.

The obvious glass for this cocktail would be a martini glass of course.

Garnish with a wedge of pineapple or a few raspberries on a cocktail stick.

6. Moscow Mule

Next, we have the Moscow Mule, a cocktail which includes Vodka, ginger beer and lime juice.

Moscow Mules are the perfect cocktail to have on a hot summer’s day.

They have a perfect balance between a spicy, sweet and strong flavour.

Also, a very simple cocktail to make at home as not equipment is needed.

These cocktails do have a certain glass they are typically served in which is a copper mug which allows the cold temperature to remain.

8. Mojito

The last cocktail which is at number eight for being the most googled cocktail during lockdown, is the Mojito.

A Mojito contains white rum, soda, many mint leaves, sugar and lime juice.

This cocktail is a very famous minty cocktail, so the mint leaves are an essential item.

A hiball glass is the recommended glass to use for this minty cocktail.

Use a muddler, to mash the mint leaves and lime into the cocktail.
